Mission

Green Valley Community Park, a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization managed by a volunteer board of directors, is dedicated to serving the community and its visitors by offering recreational and outdoor educational opportunities, primarily aimed at enriching the lives of children.

It stands as a beacon of community spirit and engagement, benefitting not only the residents of the Green Valley Community but also citizens across Watauga County and those visiting the broader High Country area.

Beyond its role in providing leisure and learning spaces, GVCP is committed to the protection and preservation of the area’s natural beauty and ecological health, ensuring that the park remains a cherished asset for future generations.

Eco-friendly playground

The Park features an eco-friendly playground, thoughtfully designed with sustainable materials to provide a safe and engaging play space for children, while preserving the natural integrity of the surrounding environment.

Athletic Field

The Park boasts a 2½ acre level, natural turf athletic field, offering a vast and well-maintained green space ideal for a variety of sports and recreational activities under the open sky.

Walking Loop

The park features a quarter-mile paved and level walking loop that is ADA accessible, providing a safe and inclusive path for visitors of all abilities to enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings at their own pace.

River Access

The park provides wide, stepped access to the New River, accommodating canoes, kayaks, and tubes, ensuring an easy and safe entry point for water enthusiasts to explore the scenic river.

Green Valley Community Park boasts a spacious 24’x60’ picnic shelter, complete with accessible outlets, providing an ideal spot for family gatherings, community events, or simply a shaded place to enjoy a meal outdoors.

Around four thousand people visit Green Valley Park every year with the summer months between April and September being the most popular times.

Vehicle parking is limited to designated areas only. Roadside parking is prohibited.
